May 18th....Farewells are never forever.......

Kaa's small town of 400

I got up early this morning to say goodbye to Kara and Kale before they left for school......ok I am really sad to be leaving....I guess I would feel the same way no  matter how long that I stayed.  I know that I would......Kara and I both shed a tear or two.  We are both adamant that we will see each other again before another 6 years, that was too long.  Mark left for work a little later and we prepared to wander on our way.  Amanda got up and we visited a little.  We followed her over to Remington High School where Kale attends and Kara works.  We found Kara in her teacher lounge and she gave us a tour of the school.  They have a fabulous art classroom where the students for the last two years have done some unbelievable paintings on the walls.

We were also really impressed by their computer lab that is fully stocked with brand new IMAC computers with very large monitors.  These kids are very blessed to be able to have that in their school.  Kara was proud to introduce us to all of the staff that we came across.  They were all very nice people, great environment for kids and staff, alike.  The feel of the school was totally positive and geared toward success for the students.

Toto, we aren't in Kansas anymore.......
Drove for many hours....8ish to get to North Platte, NE.  The winds were so scary, really intense and hot.  It wasn't so bad when we were driving North, but onthe West roads it was trying to blow us off or the road.  The semis passing us didn't help.  At one gas stop, the woman told me that this is not common but she would like us to take it with us.  Hahahahaha, we just wanted to escape the winds as well.  Somewhere in NE, I noticed a sign for a pony express memorial so we ventured off of the freeway and found it a few blocks away.  It was an original cabin stop on the Pony Express Route and we looked around it and took pics.  It was fun to see since we have the last stop in Sacramento.  While there, we met a retired pastor from Illinois.  He was on his way home after visiting the California and Oregon speaking at homeschool conventions....small world, eh??

As we were leaving the high school, Christian saw an air vent cover fly off of the top of the RV so we stopped to see if it was still on top.  Luckily, it was.  When we arrived at our Walmart for the night, he and Brookie climbed back on top to duck tape it down because the weather predicted rain.   They took their job very seriously!!!
