April 10

Biked 4 miles to metro, Walked from Metro to white house visitor center, (We were not able to get a white house tour) The White House visitor center...great movie, fun activities for the kids, lots of white house exhibits.....My cousin, Chad, his wife, Kim, and their 3 kids, came to DC to spend time with us a couple of days.....we were so excited to see them!

There are security checks galore here in Washington.....they just add so much time.....on to the white house for pics, to Ford’s Theater (all sold out) to National Art Gallery (Awesome), to police officers memorial, to Navy Memorial square (awesome bronze art of navy scenes), to Smithsonian Museum of American History, back to police officers memorial to get Gracie’s sweatshirt that she left there.....fun...back to museum of American History and back to Metro and then biked 4 miles to campground.....

Favorite paintings:  one of George Washington (the light in the portrait and in his eyes was beautiful, and the one of George W. Bush (casual, great likeness, very lifelike just like a picture)

Favorite Exhibit: 1) the 1814 American Flag from the battle that Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner about 2) the display of first ladies gowns and china at the museum of American History
