DC FOR A WEEK

Pics for all DC days are coming....they take a long time to add with funky internet.....Sorry

April 13.........ok the bus and Metro have never looked so good.....Gracie and I are so happy that the days are packed because it means that we do not have to ride our bikes to the Metro....which would not be bad if we didn’t walk and stand the many miles a day in DC.....Today we are all at our wits end about our feet!!!  We are having fun seeing all of the sites here in Washington DC....there are too many things to do in the days that we have here.....sad but true!   Today Pam and I left early and went in to get tickets to the Ford’s Theater and get in line for the National Archives.  Doors opened at the National Archives at 10:00 so we entered and ran for the documents room.  As we entered a dim room you could feel the anticipation of moment.  We viewed the Magna Carta, one of the most famous documents of all time.  The kids liked the interactive computer next to it that they could click around on to see comparisons and information on this document.  As we entered the rotunda to view the sacred documents of our country, I felt pride in our founders and a sense of awe that I was actually standing in front of THE “Declaration of Independence” and not just a copy.  We have all seen and hopefully read a copy at some point in our lives but to stand in front of the faded but surprisingly well preserved piece of parchment, I was so thankful that we have been able to come on this journey.    On various stops of this trip I have felt many “a dream come true” moments and this is definitely one of the biggest.
