Jamestown village
...inside an Indian dwelling...
Jamestown  was a beautiful recreation of the early settlement with a complete Indian village, a fortified village, and the three ships down at the James River......we toured the galleries that have extensive information and displays on life here in Jamestown during the 1600s......We had a tour with a guide dressed in buckskin for the Indian village and an Englishman that gave us a tour of the village and fort.... a man was giving a musket demonstration that Christian loved, he actually shot it ......

musket demo at Jamestown
outside Jamestown

from there we went down to the waterfront and heard from a mate on the ship.....

there was a woman out in the gardens in front of the fort working to plant....we saw a cannon demonstration on the lawn area in front of the fort

.......Queen Elizabeth visited here for the 400 year anniversary of the settlement.....

We ventured over to the Yorktown Victory Center to learn about the battle of Yorktown , the last battle in the American Revolutionary War and it was a victory for the colonial army.......The army encampment was very nifty and the kids learned a lot about life in the colonial army......

we saw the types of tents (enlisted, officer, commanding officer), the surgery tent was interesting and the kids enjoyed seeing Brittany pull a bullet out of a leg.........we held the musket and it was heavier than the kids thought it would be.....We watched the musket demonstration and saw it shot off.....from there we went into the historical town of Yorktown and walked among the quaint homes and buildings of the town, we saw Grace Episcopal Church, one of the oldest churches in America, as we walked down the hill to the Chesapeake Bay front we happened upon a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream store with a free ice cream fund raiser......... so we all got an ice cream cone and walked over to the beach.......we again saw a golden retriever names Shelby and visited with her owners......I miss our doggies!!

We left in search of a Costco to restock our food stores......in a short time we reached the Costco and did a whirlwind shopping trip, ordering pizza for dinner.....wow, the kids were so happy to eat pizza!!! A little late but on our way to pick up Dave from the Richmond airport......the kids were so excited to see him.....late night so we all fell into bed ready to see Williamsburg tomorrow!!!!!
