Today is Easter....a day to remember the Lord’s sacrifice for me and for you.....Do you know Him?  It is a glorious day here in DC and the loss of my father-in-law, Bill, this week makes Easter more poignant.  I understand how the disciples felt to lose their beloved friend and how forlorn they must have felt as they awoke that day.....the good news is that the tomb was EMPTY!!!  He is Risen and gives us everlasting life.....and today I celebrate the gift that He has given not only to me but my father-in-law!!  We worshiped at our campsite together, listening to one of the Berchtolds cds that they gifted us with before we left their home.  What a blessing that we had some worship cds with us......providential, I think.  We decided to stick around the camp today...the kids were so happy to play miniature golf and ride their bikes all around the campground.  We did laundry, worked on blogs and I made some phone calls.  Pam and I decided to recon our route on the bike trail that we will follow this week to get to the Metro station to ride into DC.

Getting ready to go on our recon mission, I was adjusting my bike seat and got my foot stuck and fell backwards off my bike, hitting the pavement on my tail bone.......ouch like big ouch!!!  Pam and I rode 4 miles down and 4 miles back to scout out the bike trail to the metro.  We will ride the bikes down to the metro to save money on the bus (1.70 per person per direction = 13.60 per day for the bus not including the metro fare).  The ride today was great, not that long.

Trail is very pretty but not well lit so we will have to be back a little before dark to get back to camp safely, boy does my tail bone hurt!!!!  Hurts to sit, bike, lay down.....I think I bruised it.....

Stopping at the grocery store (with nothing but small backpacks to put our purchases), we diverted ourselves on some food supplies and then got to the camp after dark, a little scary....but we made it......set the alarm for early!!!

In the evening, we did an egg hunt (or candy in our case).  The kids, all 5 of them, had fun finding
their bag of yummies!!!

  1. Hey Gracie,
So glad you had a fun-free Easter! Wish we were there to play mini-golf with you! Yesterday I told Clare that in Heaven Jesus will give us ANYTHING we want. FOREVER!! "Horses, candy, friends..." Then she shouted, "Yeah, Brooke and Gracie!...(didn't mention any of her "little" friends). She loves you all guys so much. We do too! Didn't we have so much fun?

Shelley- May God bless you for all your wonderful comments regarding your visit with us. You are so gifted in writing. It takes a lot of time, I've seen your efforts. Good job! I'm sure you had a great service for Dad-Grandpa. We pray for you all. Here's the blessing of Moses...some day soon we will sing it for you all. (Done with y'all...off to the North!) "The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His countenance to you and give you peace." Numbers 6
